It's our Thursday tradition to examine the weekly jobs report from the Department of Labor, so let’s get into it!

This week’s report once again brought good news for the economy for the third week in a row, as the actual figures were lower than last week, but did not exceeded the estimates of those DOW Jones economists.

The weekly report showed that 751,000 Americans filed their first time unemployment claims, which is down from the previous week’s 758,000 initial claims.

These numbers are also slightly higher than the 741,000 initial claims predicted by economists, but still show the economy in recovery.

Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer at Bleakley Advisory Group explained: “Bottom line, overall the labor market continues to repair itself but the pace at which it is doing so is slowing down.”

Well, I know one way to speed up that process: Pass another stimulus package with extended enhanced unemployment benefits.

Meanwhile, the great state of California recently announced that they will be offering PUA claimants in the state an additional 7 weeks of payments.

Providing vital unemployment benefits during the costly holiday season, Californians collecting PUA benefits will now be eligible for 46 weeks of state unemployment funds, impacting over million people.

The California EDD explains: “eligible Californians will be notified about when they can certify for the benefits through their unemployment insurance accounts or by mail.”

This is amazing news for a state that has had quite a few issues with their unemployment systems, and I hope that this new extension offers some financial support for millions of y’all out there.

Finally, we’ve been waiting on Alaska to hand out their LWA payments for even longer than we’ve been waiting to see who is the next President.

Following computer delays and a missed Halloween disbursement deadline, it looks like Alaska is finally ready to pay unemployment claimants in The Last Frontier.

Unemployment claimants in Alaska can expect to see payments beginning tomorrow, and should arrive as a lump sum payment of $1,800.

Tamika Ledbetter, Alaska labor commissioner, stated: “I am pleased that this funding is now ready to be disbursed at a critical time to help Alaskans impacted by the pandemic.”

I’m so happy for everyone that’s been waiting on these benefits, and I hope you put that $1,800 unemployment check to good use.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, stop waiting and apply today.

Visit your state’s PUA or UI website, provide them with your employment history, and let them know that you’re currently out of work due to that thing out there.

For your efforts, you could be eligible to receive a backdated unemployment check for $10,000.

To all of the gig-workers, self employed, independent contractors, 1099 workers, even side hustlers, volunteers and freelancers, every state across America is offering PUA benefits to eligible claimants like you.

Don’t miss out on your chance to receive these amazing government unemployment benefits before they expire on December 31st.
